The word preserved
Jeremiah 36:1-28 | EV Church | 20/09/2026 | Jez Reynolds
Our whole faith rests on a message - a word we've received about a Lord we've never seen. There can be moments when even a lifelong Christian stops and wonders whether it's all real. Jez Reynolds preaches on Jeremiah 36, where a king cuts up God's word and burns it piece by piece, only to have it come back longer than before. This word that could not be destroyed is the word you can build a life on.
A Year of God's Word
1 Peter 1:23-2:3 | EV Night | 29/12/2024 | Andrew Hayes
A new year! What are your aims and hopes? Andrew Hayes shows us what God says about his word in the book of Isaiah, and challenges us to make 2025 a year of God's word. Be fuelled for a year of sharing it and reading it by these 4 truths: 1. The tragedy of Isaiah's day: God's Word is neglected (Isaiah 5:24) 2. Hope for the last days: nations streaming to hear God's word (Isaiah 2:2-3) 3. Encouragement in the waiting days: God's word is unfailingly reliable (Isaiah 40:8) and powerful (Isaiah 50:10-11) 4. The challenge for us today: be people who tremble at God's word (Isaiah 66:2) Sermon Slides https://evchurch.info/20241230-slides

Parable of the Sower
Luke 8:4-15 | EV Church | 17/02/2013 | Tim Baldwin
Tim Baldwin unpacks the parable of the sower. Parables are not given so that everyone understands, but rather (v9) to speak like Isaiah, as a form of judgement. Truth is concealed from the casual listener, who ultimately are judged for ignoring Gods truth. God is a speaking God and His word (the seed) is delivered and heard in many ways. 1. Path - the devil takes away the word of God. 2. Rocky ground - receive the word with joy, then fall away when testing comes 3. Thorns - hear the word, but allows life's worries, riches and pleasures to take priority 4. Good soil - hear & retain the word and through perseverance produce an abundant harvest of godliness with a passion for mission. Pray that you listen to God's word and have your life shaped by it to become more like Christ.
