Becoming a Christian restores the most important relationship in the universe, between you and God. But this doesn’t mean life will be easy. Often it’s really hard.
One of the great gifts God gives us as Christians is each other. Being part of a weekly Growth Group is the best way for people to care for others and be cared for themselves. We are seeking to care and love each other as Jesus has loved us (John 13:34-35; 1 Thessalonians 5:11). However, sometimes we need a little extra or confidential care. The Care ministry at EV seeks to help us do this in a more organised way. If you need some help, reach out and let us know whats going on for you. We’d love to help.
Urgent and Crisis Care
The latest statistics indicate that 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health disorder in any twelve-month period. If you or someone else in your life is currently experiencing challenges to their mental health, please know that support is available. If it is urgent or life threatening, call Lifeline or the Police.
Regrettably, family dysfunction, including domestic abuse, can occur everywhere even in churches. If you need urgent help, emergency contact info is below.

Care in Growth Groups
At EV Church, care for each other happens through the relationships formed in our church community and especially in growth groups. It’s the best way to be cared for, and to care for others. If you are part of the EV Church community and are not yet in a Growth Group, click here to ask about joining one.
Care at EV Church
- Prayer – A prayer email is sent out regularly to a prayer group of people who faithfully pray for those in our church family who are struggling with difficult life issues.
- Helping Hands – Our team express Christ’s love and compassion by responding to requests for practical help, and providing frozen meals.
- Professional Counselling – We can help link those needing professional care with qualified Christian counsellors and clinical professionals (such as psychologists and psychiatrists).
- Celebrate Recovery – Celebrate is a Christ-centred recovery program for anyone struggling with a hurt, habit or hangup of any kind. Find out more about the Celebrate Recovery program.
- Domestic Abuse – We recognise the need to be well-equipped to respond appropriately to instances of domestic abuse that arise in our church community. More Resources on Domestic Abuse.
- Marriage – We want to help you care for your marriage;
- Pre-marriage Mentoring: before you get married we can meet up with you and spend time helping you understand the Biblical principles of marriage.
- Marriage Matters Weekends: A weekend away to share, relax and work through communication and relationship issues.
- Marriage Counselling: We can put you in contact with qualified marriage counsellors.
- Visitations – We have people who can visit you in hospital or at home, to chat, read the Bible and pray, and connect you to further support.
- Funerals – During this difficult time of loss and grief, we can care for family by assisting in the planning and running of funeral or memorial services.
