2 Timothy is a letter of the Apostle Paul, one written from his last imprisonment in Rome. In this letter, Paul describes his life on earth as "finished". After writing his first letter to Timothy, Paul was arrested again in Greece or Asia Minor, but this time as a criminal. His arrest was sudden and unexpected. While waiting for the time of his departure, he wrote this last letter to his beloved son in the gospel, Timothy. The purpose of this letter is to call young Timothy to clear-minded perseverance in the gospel.
