Luke 13:1-9 | EV Church | 14/04/2013 | Andrew Heard

Andrew Heard unpacks Luke 13:1-9. Why does bad stuff happen to good people? Jesus asks why does good stuff happen to deserving sinners (only through Gods grace), so repent Tragic events should be a reminder of the certainty of death for all Get ready for eternity, cling to Christ as your only hope.

Judges 17-18

Judges 17:16-6 | EV Church | 30/06/2013 | Craig Dobbie

Craig Dobbie unpacks the story of Micah and the Levite Jonathan. Here the author of Judges changes tact from the story of a chosen rescuer and drills into some of normal characters of the time. We see that the people have lost their way, doing their own thing and are superstitious. Passing the faith down to our generations matters. Spiritual consequences are not obvious is the short term, but are clear in eternity. Pray that you grow in discernment & be good spiritual leaders to your family.

Death is the End?

1 Corinthians 15:1-11 | EV Church | 20/01/2013 | Andrew Heard

Death is the end or something happens after this life are mutually exclusive. i.e only one of these statements can be right. The essence of who Jesus was, is bound up on the afterlife. John 11:21-26 Jesus primary purpose wasn't to be a moral teacher, but to be a ransom for many so that they live free in the afterlife for eternity. Mark 10:45 Believing that this life is all there is, leads to a thinking that one should pursue whatever provides the most pleasure, and one that has no morals and no justice. Perhaps we would rather live in the despair of nothing, than to acknowledge God and live under His service. Facing God on judgement day without Jesus' protection, is a fate worse than death. If there is life beyond (as claimed by Jesus), it has very serious ramifications.
