Judges 11:29-35
Judges 11:29-35 | EV Church | 16/06/2013 | Andrew Heard
Andrew preaching on Jephthat. As the Judges cycle continues, we see in Judges 10:15-16, Israel repents and God in his mercy, rescues them - not because God owes them anything, but because He was grieved by their misery. Jephthat's vow had 2 problems 1. A stupid vow. 2. It was godless, and in effect was an attempt to bribe God. What Jepthat failed to do is to recognise God for who He is. God's mercy and grace is poured out on us because of who He is, not because of our works, vows or sacrifices. Pray for a repentant heart and a greater understanding of God's mercy.

The 'pass over' described in Exodus is a scale model of the even greater rescue we have in Jesus. Grahame Fuller speaks on the final plague of death in Egypt where the Passover lamb points to Jesus blood sacrifice for our salvation.
