- I’m New
Welcome to EV Church! Our weekend gatherings are special times together when our church family meet. We hear what God has to say to us in his Word, the Bible. It is always a time of encouragement and challenge.
If you are new at one of our weekend services we would love to chat after the service and help you get to know us.
We believe that the world and everything in it, including people, belongs to God. What we do in God’s world and with God’s world is important to Him. We believe that Jesus is God's Son.
Find out more about Jesus and what we believe.
At EV we have a range of services across the weekend. You're invited to come along to one of our weekly services.

EV Church partners with the ministry of Compassion to sponsor children living in poverty in Thailand and Indonesia.
By sponsoring children through Compassion, our church is helping vulnerable children living in poor communities, providing for their most basic needs like clean water and nourishing food. Most importantly, we are giving them the chance to hear and respond to the gospel message—some for the very first time.
EV Church began partnering with Compassion’s ministry in December 2012, with a strategic focus on the remote and impoverished region of Mizoram, northeast India. Due to India’s decision to decrease foreign funding Compassion was required to end its programs there as of 15 March 2017.
However we now have the exciting opportunity to sponsor the areas of Lapangan Bola Bawah in Indonesia and Ban Kiu Leuk in Thailand.
Compassion is an international child development organisation that works to release children from poverty. Compassion’s work is distinctly:
- Christ-centred—Every child has the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel
- Child-focused—Programs engage each child as a complete individual
- Church-based—Programs are run exclusively through local churches.
Close neighbour to Australia, Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands populated by 300 ethnic groups. It is the fourth most populous nation in the world with a fast growing young demographic and a rapidly developing industrialised society. However Indonesia’s social wefare policies fall far behind the needs of its people leaving many families in poverty and without access to education and health care.
About Lapangan Bola Bawah
The plains of Lapangan Bola Bawah are located 120 km south of Medan and are home to approximately 3,000 people. Typical houses are constructed of cement floors, cardboard walls and tin roofs. The primary ethnic group is Batak Toba and main religion is Protestant.
The regional diet consists of rice. Common health problems in this area include malnutrition, fevers and influenza. Most adults in Lapangan Bola Bawah work as day labourers or on plantations and earn the equivalent of $US74 per month. This community has electricity, clean well water and good sanitation but needs vocational training, increased incomes and health programs.
Your sponsorship allows the staff of PPA Grace to provide your sponsored child with Bible studies, nutritious food, character building, national child day celebrations, sports, medical check-ups and drawing, reading and writing classes. The centre staff will also provide meetings and seminars for the parents or guardians of your sponsored child.
Thailand had a population of 68,863,514 as of 2016. Thailand’s population is largely rural, concentrated in the rice-growing areas of the central, northeastern, and northern regions. Thailand had an urban population of 45.7% as of 2010, concentrated mostly in and around Bangkok.
Thailand is a changing country and as it continues its gradual transition from an agriculture-based economy to becoming more industrialized and service-oriented many of its people are pressured to work as informal labour with little regulations on fair wages and working conditions. Those in the informal work sector are also largely under educated.
About Ban Kiu Leuk
Ban Kiu Leuk is a mountainous community, home to 5,000 people primarily of the ethnic group of the Po Karen. The main religion is buddhism.
The housing is mainly wood with tile roofs and the people’s diet consisting of maize, rice, potatoes, beans, bananas, beef, chicken, fish and pork. Common health problems include gout, gastritis, lithiasis and respiratory diseases. Large numbers of the adult population are addicted to smoking and are alcoholic with stable employment an issue due to lack of education.
Sponsorship in this area will allow the staff of Faa Sod Sai (Brighten Sky) Child Development Centre to provide Bible teaching, leadership camp, health check-ups, sports, nutritious food, health education, computer skills training, tutoring and birthday parties.
